Jada was Adopted!

My husband Tyler and I recently bought our first home and were looking for our first dog when we came across a dog on PetFinder.com that led us to the Out of the Pits website. We looked at all the dogs on the site and were immediately drawn to Jada. Her story really touched us. She had already endured so much in her life (her original owner was a drug dealer in NYC who had been arrested and she lost a leg after being struck by a car while in foster care) but we could tell from her pictures that her spirit was still strong and we wanted to meet her right away.

Since we live over an hour from Albany, Out of the Pits agreed to bring Jada to us when they came for a house visit. The second Jada jumped out of the truck we were in love with her! She ran right to us and started wagging her tail and licking us like crazy. She is probably the friendliest dog we’ve ever met and she has a sweet, outgoing personality.

We’ve only had Jada for a few weeks, but already we can’t imagine life without her! She is fun and playful, but she is also a cuddle-bug - snuggling up on the couch with me or Tyler every chance she gets. She loves going for rides in the car and playing tug with her toys. She is really great with children of all ages (she even lets the neighbor’s baby give her raspberries on the nose) and she likes meeting other dogs.

We are planning to enroll her in obedience classes so that she can make more dog friends and learn some new tricks. We never imagined it would be so easy to incorporate a new dog into our lives, but Jada is extremely adaptable and we can tell she was loved and taken very good care of by her foster mom, Nancy, from Out of the Pits.

Gracie was Adopted!

Gracie is the love of our lives. We got Gracie from Out of the Pits at six months of age. She was the answer to our prayers. She is wonderful with our four year old daughter. Madison loves nothing more then to cuddle with Gracie. We also have a one year old Lhasa Apso mix who adores her. They play so well together. In addition to Madison and Moe we have three cats, a seven month old kitten who rules the house, a four year old female and our old man who is ten.

Gracie gets along with everyone. We recently found three little kittens on the side of the road and are caring for them until they go to their new homes. I have been washing them with a wash cloth and Gracie and Moe like to help with the cleaning. Gracie is very gentle with the little kittens. Almost forgot all of the teenagers trapsing throw our home on a daily basis, they also love Gracie and enjoy cuddling with her during tv time. We live next to an autobody and a religious camp and Gracie has made many new friends. She wins the heart of everyone she meets.

Carly was Adopted!

We’ve had Carly for a year now and she’s a really GREAT dog, She’s smart, she’s friendly, she’s wonderful. Everyone loves her! She sure found a home here.

I had back surgery recently and I can’t walk her right now so we go in the back yard and she retrieves kongs until she gets tired. In the house, she’s with me every minute. We know that we spoil her but she’s worth it. On every floor of our house she has her own bed. We never come home to a mess in the house; she’s been easy to train and she’s so anxious to please, it's unbelievable! And Carly loves everybody. We went away recently and my friend came over to babysit with her. He fell asleep on the couch and when he woke up Carly was lying right on top of him. “You can’t help but love her,” my wife says. “She has such a warm personality.” Whenever we have company she’s all over our guests. She’s just a lot of fun. My daughter, Victoria, who took these photos especially loves her. Even our neighbors love her. We think she’s perfect in every way.

Thank you for all of the work that you do helping dogs like our Carly.

Robert and his family adopted Carly soon after losing their beloved Annie who was adopted from Out of the Pits only seven years earlier. Like many who have lost a beloved pit bull, they chose to honor Annie's memory by saving another life.

Sheena was adopted!

Sheena is wonderful and the perfect dog for us. She is doing fine with our kitties and has already been on  an adventure up to Bolton Landing to meet my dad, who loved  her, and an adventure to Delmar to meet my mom and play with  Rocket the dog. We went on a 2-mile walk today up around  Buckingham Pond and she was amazing! She didn't even  blink an eye at yapping dogs, screaming kids at the  playground, lawnmowers, a bicycle going by, ducks &  geese, and lots of nice dogs she met and said hello to. She also met Geoff's mom who loved her, too, even though she's not really a dog person. We absolutely love Sheena -- thank you and Cyd and Bonnie and everyone else at Out of the Pits for everything you do.  -Sarah
