 Ebony was Adopted!

Ebony was adopted in October 2000 into a home that already included 4 other dogs- a cairn terrier, a fox terrier, and two greyhounds. I had learned about Out of the Pits from my friend Mary Allen and I had off-handedly told her that if she ever came across a dog that would fit into my canine family to let me know. I never expected to have her call me a few weeks later to say she had the “perfect dog” for me.

I met Ebony a few weeks later and finalized the adoption in October 2000 when she was about 7 months old. Ebony settled in almost immediately- especially bonding to the male fox terrier who was about 10 at the time. For the next 6 years they were best buds. She has never shown any aggression to a dog or person and always has a wagging tail and smiling face when she meets a new dog. Since I do greyhound rescue work Ebony began going to the weekly greyhound walk where she charmed the other owners and helped to change their perceptions of pit bulls. She has lived peacefully-as the lowest ranking dog- through 10 years of fluctuating canine personalities and numbers since I often foster dogs right off the track. She even went to Dewey Beach DE for the annual Greyhounds Reach the Beach weekend and got along with everyone- humans and dogs.

She is by my side every night and hopefully will be for many more years.

Thanks Out of the Pits!

 Nancy was Adopted!

As a puppy Nancy was stolen from a shelter and kept in a suitcase for several days with a significant decrease in oxygen. As a result she suffers from cataplexy but it hampers her hardly at all. "Nancy is one of the nicest, most solid dogs I have ever had." declares Christina of Help Orphan Puppies who took Nancy into her program. "This would be the perfect therapy dog as her personality is so stable." she believes. If you can open your home and your heart to this beautiful girl

Carly was Adopted!

Nereida and Robert long-time friends of Out of the Pits offer our Carly a bone to keep her busy on the way home. This wonderful couple recently lost their beloved Annie who they adopted from us eight years ago and, like many dedicated families, they have honored her memory by saving another life. Today Robert assured us that Carly is already following him everywhere he goes. Congratulations Carly! You have been taken into a truly loving home.

Eddie was Adopted!

Our Eddie who waited SO long for a home of his own is now the beloved pet of Peter and Beth in Albany, NY.

 Thunder was Adopted!

This delightful dog is now the cherished companion of Deneen and Dan who fell in love with Thunder the minute they met him. "He's an awesome guy!" says Deneen. Together with Megan, their miniature schnauzer, Thunder can now cool off in his own private pond on those hot summer days.
