Ruby was Adopted!

The pack from left to right (above) Ruby (3 months old),

Petie (3 years old), Trudy (18 months old),

and Maggie (10 years old).

I adopted Ruby from Out of the Pits. She is part of a litter of 9 that was rescued from Randall Ave. in the Bronx.

The entire litter including the mom was fostered by a great lady, Bonnie-A Place, for Us. I am thrilled to say the entire litter including the mom was adopted.

If not for organizations like "Out of the Pits" and "A Place for Us" I would never have met Ruby. Several months before we adopted Ruby our beloved Roxanne (pit bull) died. I personally plucked Roxanne out of a yard (on LI). She was part of a large litter that the family could not afford to keep/feed.

We (my colleagues and I) found homes for every one of Roxannes littermates. I never thought I could find a dog with a better disposition than Roxanne but I did.

Her name is Ruby. She is the love of our lives. She only knows how to wiggle her tail, give kisses, play, and best of all snuggle. She lives in the Berkshires, has acres to run on, a pool in the back yard to swim in and a boat on the Hudson. Ruby is also fortunate enough to have a sub-pack (my daughters dogs, all rescues too).

She gets to party and play with the pack often. All of these dogs are rescues, all pit bulls or part pit bull. They are a greatly misunderstood breed that is loyal and loving beyond belief. Pit bulls Rock!

Sidney was Adopted!

Sidney has had 2 portraits done and has been photographed

hundreds of times. He's a ham but he gets bored and

goes to sleep after a while.

We adopted Sidney in October, 2006.

He fit in immediately, although he had a difficult time staying in bed at night. Every morning, I'd find him on furniture somewhere. I realized he would stay in bed if a put a blanket over him.

He now has beds in 2 different rooms and several blankies. Sidney walks 2-5 miles each day. He also runs several times per week. Sidney has a day at the spa every 4th Monday. This includes, bath, shower, ear cleaning, nail trim, etc.

The neighborhood kids love him and he often will wait at the bus stop with them in the morning. He doesn't seem to understand why he can't go with them. Based on my observations, I've been able to determine he had little girls in his house before Katrina.

Manhatten was Adopted!

Manhatten, now named Maddox is doing great! We enrolled in Suzanne Bunny's class and he's been doing really well, he's breezing through his CGC testing and I've been in contact with Helene to bring him to the all breed Temperament testing in April.

From the looks of it, I think he'll pass with flying colors. We did have to give up on the "no dogs on the couch" idea, however. His persistent need to cuddle beat us down.

He's an amazing dog, everyone who meets him loves him. From the minute I get up in the morning until I got to bed at night I have to be careful not to back up too quickly or I'll trip over him, he's constantly at my heels. My girlfriend gets a bit jealous sometimes because he's become such a huge daddy's boy.

He loves to be chased around the dining room, play fetch with his toys, and has been polite in the presence of other dogs. He and my nephew get along famously and he greets every visitor with a wagging tail, a toy to show them, and a request for a belly rub. He listens very well and is so well behaved, when we eat dinner he goes right to his bed and almost never begs. If he does, a finger snap and pointing at his bed is all the correction he needs.

He splits his time during the day between napping on the couch and sitting vigilantly on an ottoman scanning the windows for invading squirrels. We couldn't be happier to have him, one of the best parts of my day is coming home and seeing him waiting at the door nearly falling over because he's wagging his tail so hard. Thank you for helping bring us together.
